India W beats Pakistan W by 88 runs in World Cup match; Deepti-Kranti pick 3 wickets each

The Indian Women’s Cricket Team secured a comprehensive victory over their arch-rivals Pakistan by a margin of 88 runs in Match 6 of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 in Colombo. This commanding performance not only strengthened India’s position in the tournament but also extended their remarkable winning streak against Pakistan in Women's ODIs to 12 successive matches.

Chasing India's challenging total of 247, the Pakistan side was bowled out for 159. Despite a fighting innings from opener Sidra Amin, who top-scored with a determined 81 runs off 106 balls—the highest score by a Pakistani batter against India in women's cricket—the rest of the batting lineup faltered under pressure from the Indian bowlers.

The Indian bowling attack was spearheaded by Kranti Gaud, who delivered an exceptional spell, finishing with figures of 3 wickets for just 20 runs in her ten overs. Complementing her, all-rounder Deepti Sharma also played a pivotal role, securing her third wicket of the night by cleaning up Rameen Shamim for a golden duck.

Pakistan showed a brief period of resistance when Sidra Amin and Natalia Perveiz put together a half-century partnership off 73 balls, temporarily keeping the team in the hunt for a victory. However, the required run rate steadily climbed, eventually moving past 8, which placed increasing pressure on the batters.

The partnership was eventually broken by Kranti Gaud, who dismissed Natalia Perveiz for 33, ending the dangerous stand. Following this breakthrough, the Indian bowlers tightened their grip on the match, making regular inroads. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur also contributed significantly in the field, executing a crucial direct-hit run-out to send Daina Baig back to the pavilion.

Sidra Amin's courageous knock, which included Pakistan women’s first-ever six against India in ODI history, ended when she was caught by Harmanpreet Kaur off the bowling of Sneh Rana. Her dismissal effectively ended any realistic chance Pakistan had of chasing the target, allowing India to register a memorable and one-sided victory.
